Lynne BruzesseLynne Bruzzese is Managing Attorney for the Durango office of Buchanan & Stouffer. She joined the firm and opened the Durango office in 2014 and coordinates the office’s practice in estate planning, estate and trust administration and related estate controversies. An experienced litigator and mediator, Lynne’s approach is to identify the most cost-effective, creative, non-litigation alternatives to resolving disputes in advance of resorting to litigation.

Lynne’s experience in general and complex litigation spans nearly 25 years and has been acquired in state, federal and tribal courts in Colorado, New Mexico and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI). She has successfully prosecuted claims and defended clients ranging from civil rights plaintiffs to individuals charged with crimes to fiduciaries tasked with protecting and prudently managing multi-million dollar estates and corporations. In her current role, she works with a wide variety of clients, from indigent individuals to high net worth clients, on general estate planning, and estate administration and estate controversy matters.

A Southwest native, Lynne received her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Georgetown University in 1987. Following this, she worked as a volunteer teacher on the island of Saipan in the CNMI, and then attended the London School of Economics and Political Science, which awarded her a degree in Social Psychology in 1989. She graduated cum laude from the University of New Mexico School of Law in 1993, where she was a member of the Order of the Coif and an editor of The Natural Resources Journal, earning a certificate in Natural Resources Law. Lynne has a black belt in Aikido, and has volunteered at WolfWood wolf refuge in Ignacio, Colorado for many years. She has lived, worked in the legal profession, and raised her three children in Durango since 1998.

  • Lynne has been recognized annually for many years by the 6th Judicial District and Colorado Legal Services for her pro bono work in Southwest Colorado.

Lynne BruzesseLynne is a member of the Colorado Bar Association (Trusts and Estates Section), the Southwestern Colorado Bar Association, the New Mexico Bar Association, and the CNMI Bar Association. Her pro bono activities include volunteering for the Southwest Colorado Lawyer Referral Program since 2008, working as an Attorney-Mediator for the La Plata County Small Claims Court, Durango, Colorado since 2010, and working as a Steering Committee Member and Tutor for the Summer Pre-Law Program of the CNMI from 1994 – 1998.
